A National Perspective
For most of us, a home is more than simple shelter, or a good investment. A home of our own is a dream come true, and symbolizes who we are. At Fannie Mae, the home symbolizes who we
are, too. Our public mission, and our defining goal, is to help more families achieve the
American dream of home ownership.
We do that by providing financial products and services that make it possible for low-, moderate- and middle-income families to buy homes of their own.
Since Fannie Mae began in 1968 we have helped more than 30 million families achieve the American dream of homeownership. We are proud of what we have accomplished. More Americans own homes today than any time in history. As the leader of the housing
finance system, Fannie Mae is working to expand homeownership opportunities by creating products and technologies that help more people own homes. We believe that by doing so, we make a positive contribution to
families, communities, and the nation.

Fannie Mae Links San Antonio Community Dialogue
Our primary mission is to help more families achieve home ownership. Locally, Fannie Mae investment plays various roles in our community. For example, a Fannie Mae sponsorship assisted the Neighborhood Resource Center’s 10th Annual Neighborhood Conference, which was attended by more than 200 neighborhood association leaders, community activists and local elected officials. Following the presentation of The Mayor’s Award Ceremony a new award was introduced by the Neighborhood Resource Center. An additional $1,000 sponsorship of Technology Grant award, sponsored jointly by Fannie Mae and Neighborhood Link, was presented to the Neighborhood Association, buying them a computer and access to the Internet. A workshop demonstration of the Neighborhood Link web site, an internet-based community network, offered a valuable look at how every neighborhood can access a free, interactive web site, where ideas and information can be shared with neighbors, city officials, local police and schools. With tangible community involvement, Fannie Mae seeks to keep our community strong.
